Important official visit to Lebanon to promote human rights and support refugees

As part of its ongoing efforts to support refugees and the most vulnerable groups in the Middle East, the International Organization for Human Rights and Refugee Affairs conducted an official visit to Lebanon to strengthen cooperation with local official bodies and enhance strategic partnerships.

Beirut’s Governor received a high-level delegation from the organization, headed by Dr. Majid Al-Rukbi, High Commissioner for the Middle East and North Africa, with the presence of Mr. Emad Al-Rukbi, Deputy High Commissioner for the Middle East and North Africa, and Mr. Shadi Antonius, High Commissioner for the Lebanese Republic, alongside Mr. Majid Saqour, President of the International Commission, and Mr. Qais Diab, Head of Migration Affairs.

During the meeting, ways of mutual cooperation between the organization and the Lebanese official bodies were discussed, along with a review of the mechanisms for implementing the “Gateway of Hope” resettlement project, which represents a key step in supporting refugees and providing protection for the most vulnerable groups in Lebanon. A brief overview was also presented of the developmental and humanitarian projects planned for the upcoming phase, aimed at enhancing stability and supporting local communities.

Dr. Majid Al-Rukbi, High Commissioner for the Middle East and North Africa, highlighted the importance of joint efforts to provide a dignified life for refugees and support host communities, emphasizing that this visit aligns with the organization’s vision to strengthen partnerships with Lebanese official bodies and work hand in hand for a more just and humane future for all vulnerable groups.

This visit reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to promoting human rights, providing humanitarian support, and implementing developmental programs in Lebanon, in a manner that embodies the core values of justice, solidarity, and collaborative action.
