What is the limit (Nisab)?

The Nisab is the minimum threshold value that, if reached and a full year passes without it decreasing, it becomes obligatory to pay Zakat from it. This value has been estimated in gold and silver, according to the narrations of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is equivalent to 612.36 grams of silver or 87.48 grams of gold.

Who Benefits from Zakat?

The Quranic verse mentions several main groups that benefit from Zakat.

This means that Zakat is spent on the following groups:

The poor and the needy.
Those employed to manage and distribute Zakat to the needy.
New Muslims to strengthen their hearts and stabilize them in Islam.
Captives and those in debt.
In the cause of Allah.
The stranded traveler, which today includes refugees, displaced persons, and the homeless.
Close people who are poor and in need.

The Dreams of Millions Depend on Our Zakat

Islamic relief teams witnessed the impact of Zakat in more than 40 countries around the world last year. Your Zakat has transformed into solar energy wells that have turned the barren lands of impoverished families in Mali into green gardens, providing sustenance for the local community and enabling children, women, and men to live off its produce. They have also seen how your Zakat has restored sight to thousands of cataract patients in Sudan, Niger, Kenya, and Bangladesh, not only giving them the gift of sight but also becoming a source of sustainable income for their families, enabling their children to receive an education and pursue their dreams. Our teams have also witnessed how your Zakat has saved the children of Yemen from hunger, protected Palestinian children during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing them with medical treatment, health supplies, and sanitization materials, and embraced the pain of refugees from Myanmar and Syria, and supported the aspirations of Bosnian youth.

Our relief teams and the poor and needy have realized the impact of Zakat, how it saves lives, renews hope, and completely transforms their lives.
